Hey, I'm Ava
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Portland, United States.
A few years ago, I relocated here with my family. What started as a temporary contract slowly turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
The Beginning
Moving to United States wasn't part of the long-range plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and shifted expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Transition Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
What Prompted the Creation of Pak Ridge Pulse
Most online information was either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site is NOT:
- A tourism-organization resource
- Paid review platform
- Just a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Portland or anywhere in United States, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Ava
